TM Sisters “The Golden Room”
The Miami based TM Sisters have created a multimedia installation in the ladies’ Florentine Room or “Golden Room”. Once a location where society ladies waited for their men, they could chat and socialize within the beauty of this room. Projections full of colors and geometric patterns fill the space that reflect the unseen power and energy held here. The sisters’ techno-tropical aesthetic is enhanced by the upside down palm tree that connects this world with the divine. The radiating circular optical illusion painted on the floor stages multiple live performances. Members of Grand Rapids’ own Grand Raggedy roller derby team and two brothers in the NYC based punk band The Unstoppable Death Machines are collaborators in this site-specific vortex that connects the past with the present.

TM Sisters are a Miami based sibling duo who work in digital video performance, collages, multimedia installations, sculpture, fashion, video games, and VJing at night clubs. Their techno, tropical aesthetic shines along with their do-it-yourself ethic started by being home schooled together on the sands of South Florida. The sisters’ colorful geometric research includes scientific truths and psychologically stimulating spiritual adventures. Prismatic shards connect behavior, relationships, and bodily energy through muscle testing.
The sisters’ work has been included in international exhibitions and touring performances such as “Uncertain States of America: American Art in the 3rd Millennium” curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist, Daniel Birnbaum, and Gunnar B. Kvaran, Untitled Art Fair curated by Omar Lopez-Chahoud, the Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art, and PERFORMA. Their work has been seen and written about in publications like L’Officiel magazine, The Guardian, STEP Inside Design, the New York Times, Vogue Italia, and on the cover of ARTnews magazine.
